In the Direct Access system, every type of result that can be recorded on an individual’s file is defined in the Direct Access Catalogue. This includes training marks, exam results, work based training hours, competency assessments, document assessments, and even certificates. Each item has different attributes, depending on the item type. Using this Search, you can look-up Catalogue Items by name, trade, or type and view their details. Catalogue Item Search is also useful to pull-up all items for a particular trade, and/or for a specific item type – for example all exams for the Carpenter trade can be viewed by searching for Trade: Carpenter, Item Type: Exam.
STATUS
Catalogue Items can have a Status of Active or Inactive. An inactive catalogue item is usually a course or exam etc that has been replaced with a newer version. When this revision happens, a new catalogue item is created in order to distinguish between versions. Once made Inactive, no new results can be recorded using that specific catalogue item. In rare cases there will be a difference in apprenticeship credit granted between the Active catalogue item and an older Inactive item. Results recorded using a now-Inactive catalogue item will still be visible on tradesworkers’ transcripts, and any applicable credit will continue to be granted.
