Apprentice Alerts Tab

The Apprentice Alerts Tab has been created to help you manage your apprentices. Apprentices appearing here need attention. The following explains each kind of alert and the actions you might take to help resolve the problem.

Outstanding Registration Requests

View your “To Do List” (on the navigation bar at the top of the page) in Direct Access to approve or reject an apprenticeship registration that’s waiting for your response.  This registration will be dropped by the system automatically 30 days from the day it was proposed.

RFC Requests
Recommendation for Certification Due
Recommendation for Certification Overdue

Direct Access has already sent you a Recommendation for Certification for this apprentice.
You and a certified journeyman, need to sign and return the form to ITA. If you need another copy, look under the “Inbox” Tab in Direct Access and find the notification with the attachment, open the attached document and print it out.  Or if you have trouble with the “Inbox” you can contact Customer Service via email (customerservice@itabc.ca or phone 778-328-8700/ 1-866-660-6011).

Invalid Contact Information

Your apprentice’s address needs to be updated with the ITA. Please have them login into https://www.itadirectaccess.ca and change their contact information.  If they have trouble they can contact Customer Service to update their information (customerservice@itabc.ca or phone 778-328-8700/ 1-866-660-6011).

May Qualify for Certification
Apprentice has met all completion requirements except for hours
Apprentice may already have enough hours to certify

From this tab click the individuals name to update the apprentices hours, you can also access this from the Home page of Direct Access, click “Record Work Based Training Hours”.

Work-Based Training Hours Due
Work based training hours now due
Work based training hours 12 months overdue

From this tab you can click on the individuals name to get to a WBT entry page Or from your Home page in DirectAccess, click “Record Work Based Training Hours” to update your apprentice’s hours

Final Exam Failed
Exam failed
Exam failed (6+ months ago)

Look at your apprentice’s transcript in Direct Access (click on their ID number on this tab) to see how many times they’ve failed the exam. Then, visit https://www.itabc.ca/exams/results-and-rewrites for steps on how they can re-write their exam

Failed Technical Training
Technical training failed (6+ months ago)

Your apprentice needs to re-take a level of technical training. For a list of ITA-approved training institutions, select your apprentice’s trade go here, and click “View Training Providers”. Your apprentice should register directly with the school.

Technical Training Due
Due for next level of technical training
Apprentice has gone 18 months without technical training

Your apprentice hasn’t had any technical training on file for the last 12 or more months. For a list of ITA-approved training institutions, select your apprentice’s trade here, and click “View Training Providers”. Your apprentice should register directly with the school.

Technical training skipped
Skipped a level of technical training

Your apprentice is missing a level of technical training. Please view their transcript on Direct Access. If they need to go to school, select your apprentice’s trade here, and click “View Training Providers”. Your apprentice should register directly with the school.

Not activated for Direct Access

Your apprentice has not logged in to Direct Access. Please have them go to https://www.itadirectaccess.ca and follow the “Begin account activiation” link.  If they have trouble they can contact Customer Service to update their email address and receive an invitation for online access (customerservice@itabc.ca or phone 778-328-8700/ 1-866-660-6011).
