Welcome to ITA Direct Access, the registry of apprentices and certified trades workers for the Province of British Columbia.  Each user of this system has the access and capabilities required to do their job within the industry training system.  Your role is determined by the organizations that you belong to.  All users are able to review their own industry training records and maintain their personal information.

What do you need to do?

Sponsors

Review apprentice records

To go directly to an apprentice’s record, select Search for Individual from the Home menu, and search for them by Individual ID number or name.  This is the fastest path for sponsors with a large number of apprentices.

To see a list of your apprentices, select My Organizations from the Home menu and click on the Apprentices tab.

Enter work-based training hours

Select Record Work Based Training Hours from the Home menu.  You can select apprentices by Individual ID number or search by name, and print a list of hours entered for your records when you are done.

You can also enter hours when viewing the apprentice’s file, by clicking on the Record Work Based Training Hours button.

Please note that the processing of  WBT hours currently runs overnight, so you won’t see the hours on the transcript until the day after you enter them.

Register a new apprentice

Your new apprentice must have an account on ITA Direct Access in order to register as an apprentice.  If they have done any industry training in BC (for example, a Foundation program or a youth program) they already have an account and should call the ITA to activate it.If they are new to industry training, they will need to go to www.itadirectaccess.ca and Create a new ITA Account.

Once they have logged in, they can register as an apprentice.   Give your new apprentice your Organization ID (available at the top of the display after selection My Organizations) and ask them to register a new apprenticeship in the program that you have agreed on.  You will receive a notification when they are done, and you can sign the apprenticeship agreement on-line by following the link or clicking on your To Do List.

Transfer an apprentice from another sponsor

The transfer must be initiated by your new apprentice.  Provide them with your Sponsor ID, and direct then to log in to Direct Access and click on the Change Sponsor button next to their apprenticeship and follow the instructions.  You will be notified when they have done this, and you will be able to sign off on the change by following the link in the notification.

Add a new contact for my organization

To add a staff member to your organization to help you to administer your apprentices, ask them for their Individual ID and add them to the Contacts tab under My Organizations.

If they hold a BC Certificate of Qualification or Apprenticeship or have done any trades training in BC, they likely already have an account on ITA Direct Access; please have them contact the ITA to activate it.

If they are new to industry training (eg: school based careers staff), they will need to go to www.itadirectaccess.ca and Create a New ITA Account.

For more detail on this task, please go to the Contacts tab under My Organizations and click on the Help link.

Remove an organization contact

On the Contacts tab under My Organizations, there is a Remove button next to each contact.  Click on this button to remove the contact, and then Save your changes.

School Districts

Review apprentice records

To go directly to an apprentice’s record, select Search for Individual from the Home menu, and search for them by Individual ID number or name.  This is the fastest path for school districts with a large number of apprentices.   Click on the Help link on that presentation for more information.

To see a complete list of your apprentices, select My Organizations from the Home menu and click on the Apprentices tab.

Remove an Apprentice (School District as Sponsor)

This button removes the School District/Board Authority as the sponsor of an apprentice, it does not remove the apprentice from any apprenticeship, ACE IT or SSA program they show in ITADA as being registered in.

It is normally not necessary to remove an apprentice from your list; the youth programs are automatically closed out by the system at the according to the program rules, and your school district will be remove as the sponsor as part of that process.

If you find an apprentice who is still registered to your school district after their youth program registrations are closed out (i.e. they are no longer visible) you should click on the Remove Apprentice button next to their registration to remove your school district as the sponsor.  Please note that you will no longer be able to access their file after you have done so.
